Carbon neutral - How it works

We offer you an easy way to improve environmental quality in New Zealand and achieve peace of mind.

How many trees?
How many trees?

The average lifestyle of a New Zealander results in carbon dioxide emissions of 7 tonnes per year. This means that on average individuals should plant 2-3 trees per year to offset their emissions.

Precise calculation of carbon emissions associated with human activities is impossible due to the complexity and underlying infrastructure that needs to exist before we can take international flights, buy a new vehicle for driving to work and so on.

Find out how the concept of carbon credits works and how a market, based on the laws of supply and demand, can generate a positive effect by employing conventional economic policy to cause a change in business practice.

What is a carbon sink
What is a carbon sink
A Carbon Sink is a means of storing carbon for long periods of time. Hardwood trees are an excellent carbon sink as they require only a small initial investment and continually 'filter' carbon out of the gasses in the atmosphere, locking it into the wood.
How is the money used
How is the money used
When you buy a tree from our organisation we use your money to purchase a hardy seedling which is then planted in a dedicated forest in the South Island.

This land has been set aside for planting and as such will not be capitalised on in any way. Trees require pruning to encourage growth and reduce fire risk.
